American Folk Songs For Children - Two-CD Setby Mike and Peggy Seeger Siblings Mike and Peggy Seeger present 94 American folk songs for children on this two-CD set. It's both a companion to the songbook (which we also carry) and a tribute to their mother, Ruth Crawford Seeger, who compiled these songs in the 1940s. Combined with the extensive liner notes, these songs are a lesson in both folk and children's music that spans generations. Mike and Peggy Seeger have accompanied many of the tunes with autoharp, banjo, concertina, dulcimer, fiddle, guitar, mandolin, mouth harp, and pan pipes. Presented as sing-a-longs for children 10 and under, these songs include the playful "Jimmy Crack Corn;" "Froggie Went A Courtin';" "She'll Be Coming Round The Mountain;" "Ducks In The Millpond;" and songs of slightly more serious themes such as "I Got A Letter This Morning;" "Goodbye, Old Paint;" and "Do, Do Pity My Case." Mike and Peggy sing them simply, just as children would do.
